ouch! I think my eardrums are bleeding a bit just thinking about that. The max dev on VHF and UHF repeaters should be set for between +/- 4.5 to 5 KHz. Id's need to be 'in the background' so it doesn't interfere with voice. Remember-the whole reason it's there is to repeat what someone is saying. Anything that interferes with that is a problem.
