In a few days we will be dropping dialtone service to our repeater. However, there is still a desire to somehow dial 911.
An archive search of the list yielded no relevant advice on how to use an old cellphone to do this. We have no internet service in the radio room, but there *may* be free/open wifi available. We just haven't looked for it yet. Of course we could run a dedicated full-duplex link to somewhere with dialtone, but seems like a ton of work... If a cellphone (without purchased service) is a feasible solution, which one(s) are good to use and don't require microsurgery inside? What other ways are there? Laryn K8TVZ
