Actually the dual-mode working with my software repeater controllers is already here. GB3IN started full dual-mode operation at the beginning of the year, with the mode being sensed automatically. The FM side is connected to EchoLink and the D-Star side being connected to the Multi-Trust network.
Each repeater has a configurable mode hang time associated with it to stop mode flipping too quickly. Since all D-Star radios also do FM, there isn't usually a problem of "us" and "them". Jonathan G4KLX
