Greg,

I haven't seen anything like this before. Can you reproduce this problem?
This sounds like a possible extensions conflict issue or system
corruption. The client will only display the "Waiting for backup" window and
bouncing screensaver when you select Shut Down from the Special menu.

If you're still having this same problem, please call us with more of
your configuration information and any other applications or extensions
you're running.
