    Yes, there is also a `Serializer` argument exposed in the Scala API, and 
not yet in the Java API. My general theory is to expose one method in Java with 
all parameters, and then only expose convenience methods that set defaults 
which seem like they'll be frequently used. Hence I could see adding the 
Serializer to the method you've added, to avoid having to add another method 
later if someone wants to set that.
    
    I haven't even surveyed the other similar by-key methods in the Java API to 
see what they do, to try to be consistent. That might be a good quick exercise, 
if you have a minute.
