@cloud-fan, I agree that doing this via the required child distribution and ordering in the physical nodes seems like the way to go. In fact, that was the first idea that I tried to implement. Unfortunately, I could not make it work for the reasons described in the design doc [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X0NsQSryvNmXBY9kcvfINeYyKC-AahZarUqg3nS1GQs/edit?disco=AAAAJ9oedI0).
