@zsxwing Regarding the `synchronized(this)` in TaskMemoryManager, I think
that my goal was to guard against cases where racing threads allocate pages
with the same page number. I think that this is a carryover from older
versions of the code, though, and I agree that this synchronization probably
isn't necessary as I think that we assume single-threadedness in tasks. We
could clean that up here or as part of a separate cleanup PR for that file.
