I'm totally fine either way. If the committers prefer your approach, continue with your PR. For the record, what I concluded in [that thread][1], after feedback from Holden and Tian, is that it would be better to take a different approach. [My proposal][2] was to create a new `spark` CLI that has a subcommand for `connect` and document it accordingly.. This would surface our `sbin` scripts to users in a more accessible way. No new configs or environment variables.
