For 1, it's still doable with current approach, if we want to pull in all
the serialization details in Join. Right now, we just choose to have better
interface.
For 2 & 3, they both make sense, but they are total different things. They
are also doable with current approach.
OK is not good. We usually did not merge PR with `OK`. so close it now.
