@markhamstra sure, I can make those updates. `partitions.size` is used
extensively in this file, but I can update them all to be `partitions.length`.
And I can reformat `runEvent(CompletionEvent(...))` in this test. (I will
skip updating "ignore late map task completions" for now, I'm interested in
trying to understand / clarify that test in any case so maybe I can do those
together in another pr ...)
