Thanks. It's not clear to me if it can use ExternalAppendInlyMap as the
underlying buffer either. There was some discussion about how to handle memory
management in Jira, There was no concensus at the time, so there was
duplication.
Some code can be factored into a common class, I chose not to change too
much at once.
I'm tied up in the near future. When does this have to be resolved?
