@chenghao-intel this is overly cautious and somewhat arbitrary. The point
is to switch to sort-based aggregation when there's memory pressure, not
whenever we exceed some fixed size. @yhuai and I tracked down the real root
cause of the issue, which is we allocate the pointer array before actually
releasing the memory. I pushed a fix at #8827 and I believe it is more precise.
