For the current usage of `splitExpressions`, the expressions to be split
are corresponding to `currentVars` if they are used. That said, each expression
only uses one variable in `currentVars`. What they did is to process one
variable in `currentVars` and assign it to another variable. So we don't face
the case you worry about.
