    @jkbradley it seems I can only deprecate `setImpurity`: the value can't be 
deprecated since it's used internally, which triggers a fatal warning, and 
getImpurity has scaladoc shared between other classes where it's valid to use. 
In any case, `setImpurity` is the only one that needs to have the warning.
