At high level, this idea is good and worth moving forward with. I still
have to dig into your analysis in response to concern raised by @hvanhovell.
In terms of the PR itself, is the long term plan to ensure that all memory
access would be in form of `MemoryBlock` ? I mean there are still methods which
do vanilla `Object` based access which I feel should be gotten rid of (not in
this PR as it will touch a lot more places).
