@chenghao-intel, because Hive is not compatible with metastores of a
different version we will need to support Hive 12 and 13 concurrently for at
least a little while. Long term I would like to switch to using HCatalog so
that we can connect to different metastore versions without needing to compile
against different versions of the hive library.
@scwf, @pwendell has some concerns about adding another project, since each
project incurs significant overhead in build time. For this reason, perhaps we
should just consolidate all the Shim code into a the existing hive subproject.
