This would definitely be a really great thing. It's wrong to assume internet connectivity and it can be inconvenient and frustrating to have to manually configure the obvious source, the one used for installation. A manual install promises the user they will be able to add packages after the install, but when they can't (graphical installer crashes or python traceback on the commandline), there's no clue what to do about it.
