I don't know what happened to you in this case but it sounds like it
might be installation number related. Was an installation number used
during installation? Does /etc/sysconfig/rhn/install-num exist on the
system? Was an activation key used? All these things now determine
what channels your system is subscribed to at registration time.

The installation number does exist in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/install-
num. I typed it in when I first installed the OS. I have RHEL5
workstation installed and updated on six nodes already but they
were all using the GUI registration assistant. Is there a good
reason Red Hat does not have these RHN tools documented on their site?
They are documented, it's just really really hard to find.
