quite a lot, there are 106 change logs in between those kernel versions.

I'd grab the rhel5 kernel and rebuild it on FC3 and see if it still happens.

So you have went from FC3 which works ok to rhel5 which cooks the CPU
then back to FC3 which then is OK again.

Very odd.  Perhaps compare both kernel configs (after installing
sources)  see if anything stands out.
