We have a HP LC2000 server with a Megaraid-2M RAID controller.

The problem is that when I install Red Hat EL 5 the installer fails as
soon as it tries to write any data to the array. The type of failure
differs from failing to write to the partition, lock-ups to kernel
panics. The partitioning and format works fine.
When I manually create the partitions and then use mkfs to create the
partition it succeeds but when I use fsck to check it it always fails.

I double checked all the drives and the array and found it to be the
driver megaraid_mbox causing the problems. It appears that this driver
is only intended for newer megaraid cards.

I tried using noprobe and then loading the megaraid modules available
manually after loading the sym53C8xx driver. It fails to detect any
drives until I load the megaraid_mbox driver.

I also found an article on this at
http://www.tuxyturvy.com/blog/index.php?/archives/4-Installing-RHEL4-on-Systems-with-Legacy-Megaraid-Drivers.html#extended
I tried this but it seems that the header files required to compile this
driver has also been deprecated for the 2.6.18-8.el5-i686 kernel and the
make fails.

Any ideas or help on this will be appreciated

Thanks in advance.
