You should probably read the man pages - there is quite a bit of
detailed explanation there:

man syslog.conf

Thanks,

Kevin

Subject: [rhelv5-list] syslog.conf questions

Hi,
Why does RHEL syslog.conf (/etc/syslog.conf) have comnent kernel log
(kern.*) messages,
but /var/log/messages has lines with kernel: log?

should I uncomment thi line at /etc/syslog.conf?

Which are the diferences between facility.priority and
facility.=priority?

thanks
f3b
