Hi, It's my first time with RedHat distribution. I'm a Debian system administrator (8 years). We develops some programs under Red Hat 5.1 and we dont want to upgrade the distribution, because we dont know if the news packages will be compatible. The main difference between 5.1 and 5.2 its just security patch? Where I can find this information in the redhat website? sorry for my english Dominique

I'm a little confused exactly what you are looking for? Red Hat versions aren't the same as going from XP to Vista. If you keep updating your machine (not upgrading) , you will stay with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, it'll just slowly increment the .0 to .1 to .2 Most likely if your machines are registered with RHN right now and have been updating then you are likely already running 5.2 stuff (except maybe without an updated kernel). If you don't do a 'pull' (running yum update) on the client, and just let the rhn_check keep the machine up to date, then you will stay with your current kernel (likely 5.1). Some other packages that depend on the updated kernel will not update correctly though. But, we want to stay with this version and not to upgrade to 5.2. However, we want also the security update for the 5.1 version. What is the best way to keep the 5.1 version and install new packages? thanks Dominique
