Neither of which fixed the problem. I've done extensive google searching but none of the solutions out there seemed to work for my problem. I'm at a complete loss as to how to resolve this and am not too familiar with the workings of yum (coming from a debian background). I would great appreciate any help and/or suggestions. Thanks in advance. NickI believe you can do a "rm -fr /var/cache/yum/*" and then do a "yum check-update" to re-download the repo info.HughI know this is a late reply but I wanted, just for the record, to be clear that this didn't work, and I'm still having this problem: [EMAIL PROTECTED] yum.repos.d]# rm -fr /var/cache/yum/* [EMAIL PROTECTED] yum.repos.d]# yum check-update Loading "rhnplugin" plugin epel 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB00:00 primary.xml.gz 100% |=========================| 931 kB 00:00 epel : ################################################## 2908/2908rhel-i386-server-5 100% |=========================| 1.2 kB00:00 primary.xml.gz 100% |=========================| 1.6 MB 00:00 Error: failed to retrieve repodata/primary.xml.gz fromrhel-i386-server-5 error was [Errno -1] Metadata file does not match checksum[EMAIL PROTECTED] yum.repos.d]#I have no idea whats going on here and google searches come up only with references to my original post. At one point I think I got it working temporarily (which is why I haven't responded in over a month), and generally I leave this system alone and don't install anything, howeverI'm trying to update my system now and simply can't.Is there any way to figure out what's going on here? Thanks, Nick
I've had troubles off and on with getting the xml file from the server repository. Usually clearing out the cache and trying again later (like a day or so) has worked.
