The Democratic platform which Kerry had a great deal of input for,
stipulates policy that is easily as right wing as the Republicans.
The choice is between two rich white guys and two rich white
guys. It isn't my vote that counts. It is exactly because my vote
doesn't count that I will likely vote for a third party which cannot
win.
I'm not going to accept culpability for voting for Nader in the last
presidential election. Bush won the presidency because the Supreme Court
made a "political policy" decision and not because I voted for Nader. The
lack of democracy, having felon lists of mostly African-Americans who
still are being prevented from voting and the Democrats, if they cared
about real democracy would have done something about it in 4 years. They
didn't.
But I'll tell you what is going to hurt Kerry and it has nothing to do
with who I choose to vote for:. Everyone says this was a good move for
him, to pick Edwards. I think everything Edwards said about Kerry and
everything Kerry said about Edwards will be repeated ad nauseum the the
populist right wing will do what they always do: They will vote for the
Republicans.
