It is Sharon who is now taking heart from his own party for wating to
dismantle some of these settlements. I presume you know why the
settlements were RE-established? I say established again because many
settlements existed before the 48 war and were destroyed by the war and
building some of them was merely going back to where they had lived
before. Others were built specifically to hold the high ground against
murderous attacks from those same heights by terrorists and other Arab
governments which never agreed to the existence of the State of Israel.
Setting up the settlements was a requirment of peaceful existence. Setting
up the fence is to insure quiet/peaceful enjoyment of one's life.
