Sorry Donnella, But are you saying that all Islam is butchering and suppressing? I still have to repeat that you have to divide a religion into the fundamentalists as opposed to the great bulk of the members.And I have left out the progressives. Only a tiny minority of Muslims are terrorists...the vast majority are standing by. True...a battle is going on for their hearts and minds. The fundamentalists are working their buts off to try to get their message across... and sadly, George Bush is helping them by giving the idea that Islam is under attack. But still the vast majority of Muslims are on the sidelines. Butchering is still going on all around the world...in Muslim countries like Haiti (sorry, Christian), that other great Muslim country Columbia.... then there is Uganda, and Nepal, and a few years ago Cambodia. And, lets count up the number of times that leading Muslim country, the good old United States of America, has rained bombs down on poor third and second world countries... Hey, maybe you're right. No, you can't pin down the slaughter we see in the world to one religion..Islam. Just scan your eyes over an atlas and look at how widespread the misery and killing is.....Sri Lanka, Nepal... Donnella, if ever there was a person who needed to free herself and open her mind....has your city got a left-wing bookshop?...just a weeny little teensy weensy little left-wing bookshop....where you can read about "colonialism", and "imperialism" and other funny things like that? If not, try and order some books through the internet. There is always an economic reason, alway gross inequality, someone trying to make a buck...some establishment trying to hold on to power. Sure, Islam is still a religion that seems left over from Mediaeval times. In its youth it was a very promising religion that encouraged an explosion of knowledge.... but like many religions and sects (take Catholicism as an example) and even countries and empires, it seems to have got left behind. Yes, it isn't changing much - you're right there. But to give it the monopoly on murder - surely the USA must go down as the main deliverer of death and destruction - on a body by body count. It's the only country to use atomic weapons on civilians... it took over the Japanese research from WW II on toxic weapons and nerve gases (the "hollow log" programme), with the result that it was able to give Saddam his various nerve gases.... and count up the wars it has been involved in since 1945. Well ahead of everyone else. Is the United States Muslim. Is it not changing? No...you're looking in the wrong direction. Some balance is required Donnella..comfortable myths should be laid to rest.
