Hi,
Thanks for the response! I just got preliminary qr code support working
on the android client. The app now displays the QR code for the
currently selected account underneath the users name and profile
picture. I also added a menu option that lets you scan a QR code with
whatever scanner you have installed and it starts a chat with that
person right away. How should I got about committing my changes? Can I
just make a branch called qr on the android client repo or should I fork
and make a pull request?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi and welcome !
Sorry for this late reply
The Android client is a major work in progress,
for instance, a nice and simple thing to have may be sharing of
RingIDs using QR codes.
The Gnome client would also benefit from some love, for instance the
chat message
window may be much prettier.
Since you have interest in distributed systems, you might be interested
by OpenDHT, the distributed hash table library used by Ring.

However the core of OpenDHT is being currently re-written, so beware
before writing code for it.
Note that you can contact us through IRC on freenode, channel #ring

*Subject: *[Ring] Ring Development Effort
Hi,
I learned about ring recently and the project seems aligned well to my
interests. I did distributed systems research in university and am very
interested in p2p applications. I work full time, but I would like to
contribute in my spare time to the project. I am looking through the
source now and have an account on tuleap. As there are many aspects to
this project, could you suggest somewhere for me to get started that
needs attention? I can help with the daemon as well as the gnome and
android clients.
Thanks,
Alex
