In my experience, it looks like SlimServer 6.5 is using the iTunes iTunNorm tag before it uses a Track Gain value from something like MP3Gain or Foobar 2000. I have been VERY pleased with the results of using MP3Gain to normalize my volumes, but i think the iTunes Sound Check sucks and I strongly think we need a way to tell SlimServer which one to use (i would, of course, use the values from MP3Gain and totally ignore the iTunes ones).
I'm about to purge my entire libary of iTunNorm tags and see what happens. In my experience, adjusting the Volume slider bar in iTunes for an individual song has no effect on SlimServer.
