One argument for using FLAC over Apple Lossless is that FLAC is played natively by SB, whereas ALAC must be transcoded to a native format [flac or wav more than likely] on the server before being sent across the network. If you've got a powerful enough machine to handle the on-the-fly transcoding, this isn't a problem ... but if you're running the server on a relatively low-spec machine ... you may see performance issues ... especially if other processes are running such as a library scan, or MusicMagic validation ... whatever. -- jeffluckett ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jeffluckett's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28829 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
