Even the copy-protected TB2003 gave EAC little trouble, but I simply cannot get a clean rip from my copy of the HDCD remaster of Ommadawn.
EAC started slow, then ground to a near-standstill at about the 3-minute mark. I left it running overnight, and it had barely got any further 7 hours later! (That's in Secure mode; Burst mode was faster but just hit sync errors sooner, then ground to a halt as well.) Audiograbber simply gave up! CDEx did rip all of part 1, though it took over an hour (!) and the resulting wav file has skip errors from 2:30 - 2:50, and complete silence from 2:50 - 5:40! The CD plays OK in my Arcam player. There's nothing on the box about copy protection, so I suspect it's simply badly corrupt. Rather worrying as I bought it in 2000 and almost certainly ripped it before (though to WMA, which I now regret) without trouble. I almost certainly ripped it soon after getting it, and have hardly ever played it (or handled it). There are no obvious visual signs (unlike the bronzed CDs problem). I was worried that it might be something to do with where/how it's stored - there are some heating pipes behind the shelf - but nearby CDs ripped OK (though EAC did read Five Miles Out rather slowly). Has anyone else had problems with any of the MO remasters? In the many rips I've been doing in the past few weeks, this has been the only truly problematic one.
