Hi all Apologies for just jumping in - a newbie on this forum, and relatively new to slimserver too.
But I have a very similar problem to the original poster; in fact, I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same, only showing up in a different way. I also have some additional information which may help chase down what is causing this. I have also used mp3tag; in my case, to remove all the COMPOSER tags from all my music (to get rid of songwriters), and replace only the name of the composer on the classical items (in my case, a minority of my music). I then ask SlimServer to "include COMPOSER in artists" - only to find that when I browsed artists both on Slimserver and the Squeezebox, I STILL had all the songwriters I thought I'd deleted. So I went back to mp3tag - no, no sign of any songwriters on any other tags. I then went to Winamp, selected a song and did "view file info" - nope, still no sign of the composer. But then in Winamp I did "edit selected items" and up came a box called "edit file info" and - lo and behold - it included the composer I thought I'd deleted. It also has a checkbox saying "update tags if supported". So this seems to imply that there is some metadata in a file (or at least an MP3 file) which is NOT a tag (or at least not as far as mp3tag is concerned) but which IS used by SlimServer. Still doesn't answer quite what it is, or how we edit it (I MIGHT be able to use Winamp to do it, but it's a bit clunky - and I don't want to undo all the work I've done so far.) If anyone could help, I'd be very pleased! -- Martin_z ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Martin_z's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32373 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
