I was looking for a way to make batch conversion from FLAC to MP3. I
looked at flac2mp3, but after reading the instructions and taking one
stab at it I decided that it would probably end up like one of my
typical computer projects - I would spend more time making it work than
I would save. Foobar2000 sounded good but I never could find out where
the convertor was hidden.

I then came across Switch. After playing with it I decided it was worth
$28. It pretty much does everything I wanted and it is very easy to set
up and understand. My MO is to copy a whole tree of folders with the
FLAC files organized in them by genre, artist and CD to another drive
or subfolder and convert them all at once. It will delete the FLAC
files, leaving the folder directory and file organization intact. I
have converted over a hundred CDs at a time this way. Just start it up
and go to work. There is the time intially spent copying the folders
and files, but that can be set up in a minute and run automatically.

I figure trading off $28 to save many hours of frustrating set up time
was a good deal.
