Sure, overread into the lead-in and lead-out is better, and filling missing samples with silence will never be truly accurate. I usually check overread first and switch if I get sync errors/missing samples/read errors, because I don't know of any up-to-date drive databases (and didn't realize that AccurateRip tests the drive for anything beyond offset). I'm pretty sure it worked on a Sony DVD/RW I had, but not the TDK CD/RW that I like now (because it's twice as fast).
