I did have a problem with MAC freezing on some FLAC files. I couldn't
figure out why it didn't like some files, but the solution was to
re-encode them using dbPowerAMP Music Converter.

I did have to spend most of an afternoon on this, killing MAC with Task
Manager whenever it hung, fixing the files, then rescanning. Pointing
MAC to smaller subsections of the library saved a lot of time, because
then it didn't have to scan through a bunch of good files before
finding the next bad one. Also, when it found a bad file, I usually
just re-encoded the whole album, and that likely saved me from several
subsequent freezes.

Once I checked all the subsections, then I pointed MAC at the whole
collection. I also let MAC scan new additions before moving them to
the full library.

One small benefit is that I was able to free up some space, since the
later version of FLAC I used for re-encoding is much faster at higher
compression levels. Another possible benefit is that the re-encode may
have gotten rid of some bad frame data that could have affected
something in the future.

And yes, every one of my FLACs has embedded album art. Library has
about 14k FLAC files.
