Being new to this, I'm finding it hard categorise my music in such a way that:- 1) There's not too many categories 2) That if you play by category you don't get too wider style of stuff...
So if I just list a set of random groups, how you would categorise individual tracks by them? Jean Michel Jarre Kraftwerk Tangerine Dream Orb Fluke Apollo 440 Visage Depeche Mode (1980s to modern) Erasure Suga Babes Madonna (1980s to modern) Placebo Keane Genesis REM Yello Gorillaz Robbie Williams Sophie Ellis Bextor Justin Timberlake David Bowie (80s to modern) Public Image Limited The Darkness The Shamen Prodigy AC-DC Seems except for some very obvious categories, most I think I have to break down again by decade? I'd do it something like this:- Jean Michel Jarre - Electronic Early Kraftwerk - Electronic Early Tangerine Dream - Electronic Early Orb - Electronic Ambient Fluke - Electronic Dance Apollo 440 - Electronic Dance Visage - New Wave Depeche Mode (1980s to modern) - Newwave for early, Pop 90s and Pop 00s - later Erasure - Pop 80s, Pop 90s & Pop 00s Suga Babes - Pop 00s Madonna (1980s to modern) - pop 80s, pop 90s, pop 00s Placebo - Rock Alternative 00s Keane - Rock Alternative 00s Genesis - Rock Alternative 80s REM - Rock Alternative 00s Yello - Electronic Misc Gorillaz - Rock Alternative 00s Robbie Williams - Pop 90s, Pop 00s Sophie Ellis Bextor - Pop 90s, Pop 00s Justin Timberlake - Pop 00s David Bowie (70s to modern) - Rock 70s, Rock 80s, Rock 90s Public Image Limited - Rock 90s The Darkness - Rock 00s The Shamen - Acid Prodigy - Acid AC-DC - Metal 70s Any tips/advice most welcome from people who have probably already no doubt gone thru this!? -- NeilF shuttle sn45g, athlon 3200+, 512mb, xp pro (sp2), squeeze box 3 slimserver version: 6.5.4 - 12568 - windows xp - en - cp1252, perl version: 5.8.8 mswin32-x86-multi-thread, mysql version: 5.0.22-community-nt ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NeilF's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13059 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38729 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
