I've used Allmusic.com's taxonomy. You could assign multiple Genres aka Allmusic Styles eg http://wm10.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=73:20 to a album/track by separating them with a ; in the Genre tag. Slimserver will pick them all up. Problem is, depending on how wide a variety of music you have, you'll end up with an extensive genre listing.
