Good thought. So I used mp3 to delete all tracks and rescanned. Now it's STILL got the original title and artist and album (oh, and the year is stuck too!), but the track number has now vanished.
So I tried adding back completely different titles, artists and tracks using Winamp. (Which, btw, couldn't find any tags either.) Rescanned - and I STILL have the original title, artist, album and year, and the track number has changed to what I set up in winamp. This is silly. I've tried removing the ID1 tags only. I've tried removing the ID2 tags only. I've tried removing the whole directory and replacing it somewhere else. Somewhere in this mp3 are a set of tags which no-one but slimserver can see, and I can't delete them. I'm having difficulty believing this one....
