Agree about the ease of use of SIA. I do my rips from an SME20/Koetsu
Platinum/Sutherland Ph.d to the emu 0202 using Audacity to capture at
96khz and 32 bit float. Audacity allows me to get the levels correct
and monitor what is going on. As soon as I have saved the wav I use SIA
to track split and then I convert to FLAC. Ignoring the time spent
listening to the music (always a pleasure!) I reckon it takes about 20
minutes per LP to convert, tag and get cover art.

I have noticed the following:

1. External sound cards seem to produce a quieter recording than
internal ones
2. Having the laptop plugged into the mains whilst recording creates
audible noise. Better on battery power. This is down to the switching
PSU I think.
3. External sound cards powered from the laptop USB are quieter than
mains powered ones.
4. I never post process - what is on the vinyl is on my recordings. I
do however clean each LP with a Loricraft cleaner beforehand.
