I believe the PX708 is a genuine Plextor drive, so if it's anything
like my PX712, here's something else you could try:
Use the PX708, and Plextools to do the ripping. Set the drive speed as
low as it'll go, and switch OFF the Audio Error Detection.

(Background: From experience with my PX712, it seems that the drive has
excellent error concealment capabilities, but they are only enabled when
you're NOT requesting it to report C2 errors. Switching off Audio Error
Detection seems to do this. I've never found any way to get EAC to use
the Plextor drive in that mode. Perhaps in your case the PX708 will
behave similarly).
