Today I made a rather embarrassing discovery. When searching for a CD that was not ripped correctly in one of my many Ikea Billy" CD-racks with my CD collection carefully ordered in alphabetical order I saw that the first CD was "The Chairman Dances", however performed by the "S"an Fransisco Symphony Orchestra and conducted by "E"do de Waart, composed by John "A"dams and therefor to be found under "A". (insert dramatic silence here)
However, I think that it was Robin Bowes some way up this thread that suggested that ARTIST is in fact a misnomer. It is just one of top level entries in a arbitrary searchable universe. The others could be: Genre, Album, Ethnicity, Year, or indeed Composer. The latter wouldn't really be of use to the metal-afficionado but would probably be used by the average classical music lover. So in fact a music player should be adaptable to whatever a user feels as being a top-level entry point. So I could ignore ARTIST all together and use starting entries Composer and Performer and tag my tracks accordingly. -- th00ht SqueezeBox (f/w81), SqueezeCenter (7.0-17707) Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats ------------------------------------------------------------------------ th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43851 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
