I think that very few people would tag either with anything other than
the release year of the original LP, as they probably do for most CD
reissues of vinyl albums.  Of course there are folks that lobby for
being able to tag the original release date, the date of the reissue,
the date of the recording... until they run out of things to worry
about, which is never.

Folder paths are also used by SqueezeCenter to distinguish albums.  I
think that's smart, although it's hell for anyone who doesn't use a
folder-per-album filing system.

I think there are currently a number of bugs in the album consolidation
code, particularly with respect to compilation albums.  I don't have any
problems with any of my albums, but I also go to the trouble of tagging
everything with a COMPILATION=1/0 tag and don't attempt to use
per-track dates.
