I have found the lack of a really good tagger native to Linux / Ubuntu
to be very irritating.

EasyTag is great - except I cannot use it to work on my .m4a files.
Maybe people throw their iPods away after switching to Linux? I didn't
know that.

Mp3tag is probably the best tagger I have ever used, and it works
almost perfectly under wine, but it does have a few problems. I have
lots of files with strange characters in the file names and they look
fine in the Nautilus File Manager, but when these files are loaded into
Mp3tag under wine, these characters are not interpreted correctly, and
when that happens, the Mp3tag realizes something terrible is happening,
and does not show the tag information - it is blank.

Amarok - actually pretty good. I can edit tags for all the file formats
I use, and it handles unusual characters without any trouble. It is not
a dedicated tag editor however, and is cumbersome unless I am fixing a
tag for just one or two tracks.

Picard - I will try this one again. I tried using it in the past, and I
could not get used to it - maybe it has gotten easier.

exFalso - similar to Picard - I tried it once and disliked it. I may
have to try it again.

Tag&Rename - I used it in the past, when I lived in Windows. I am not
using it now because it is not free. If nothing else satisfies, I will
try using it again under Wine - as a last resort. I don't mind sending
money to people if I like their software, but I don't like being
required to.
