Why do you think there's greater FLEXIBILITY or PORTABILITY with FLAC? They should be almost EXACTLY the same size and bitrate as Apple Lossless as FLAC is lossless, too. Anything I rip from CD I do with iTunes as Apple Lossless (ALAC), mainly because iTunes does tagging very well. If I need portability I re-encode from the ALAC files as 128kbps MP3 for my iPods.
I do encode some files to FLAC using MAX, but that's primarily when taking a DTS or AC3 encoded 5.1 surround WAVE file and converting for playback on the Transporter. The bitrate between WAVE and FLAC is the same, but FLAC handles tags better than WAVE files do. -- Eric Seaberg Eric Seaberg - San Diego - [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Seaberg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7896 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48457 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
