I'm about to rip my CD collection to flac using either EAC or
dbPoweramp. Like many others, I'm concerned with the best quality
possible and reading up on secure ripping and playing around with above
programs left me a bit puzzled at times.

The recommendations for C2 error correction I found most contradictory.
The SqueezeboxWiki recommends against using it and states:
> C2 Error correction can sometimes introduce errors of its own while
> trying to correct for disc errorsÂ…
But on the other hand in many guides for EAC it's used and in dbP it
seems to be an important part of the whole process. So which one to
follow?

Likewise, the SqueezeboxWiki recommends to uncheck "Filling missing
offset samples with silence". Initially I did uncheck this option, but
always ended up with inaccurate rips (using various different CD
drives). Only when I checked this option did I get accurate rips (with
"no errors occured" at the end). But why would this have an impact on
the accuracy of the rip?

Also, when a CD is not in the AccurateRip database (and I assume most
of mine will not be), it's hard to be sure, that a rip was really error
free. dbPoweramp offers the UltraSecure feature, where it reads multiple
times over the same track etc. Is EAC's secure method equally good in
offering a good likelihood of an error-free rip?

Thanks - p.
