I found WMP (in Vista anyway) to be somewhat destructive to my music files. Firstly it would automatically resize all 'folder.jpgs' down to 200x200 and secondly, if allowing it to automatically download album art, it would often download the wrong art. (Right artist, but wrong CD). I disabled WMPNetwork SVC from accessing my music folder for these reasons. (auto resizing is I think a Windows Vista WMP 'feature' only). Most missing art I get via Tag&Rename but I did it manually, CD at a time.
