i think in general, you and i agree... i hate that SC has so many non-optional "logics" or functions that it makes mandatory, and i find them very intrusive, unintuitive, obstructive, and unnecessary. this however, is a different case. (and actually, i have no problem making the function optional, opt out if you don't want it, maybe it'll make scans faster, etc). but from slims standpoint, they have this basic issue: 1. a lot of people will have trailing spaces that aren't intentional. 2. if untreated, it could end in confusing results. 3. the symptoms would be clear, not the cause, its hard to diagnose, esp for unsophisticated [ie. MOST] users, AND its potentially a huge PITA to fix. 4. confusing results, unexpected behavior = support calls. so i would guess thats why they already decided to handle the issue. frankly, i think its the right call, but again, i have no beef making it optional. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.3b - Win XP Pro SP3 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55833
