did i mention itunes sucks as well? you need to relax, i made it clear i didn't know the ins and outs of ALAC, (i just think people are better off with free open standards like FLAC and MP3). however, i have heard of problems with apples way of doing things, (occassional DRM, not truly lossless, not as well supported, sound manipulation by itunes or done pre-download at the itunes store, etc...)
any one of those or all of them might be false, but my point was why tie yourself to a standard that isn't open?
