You should also consider clearing the caches where art work is cached
before a wipe and rescan especially if rescan takes a lot of time.

When cover art (e.g. cover.jpg) is first read by SC each scaled version
used is stored in the Artwork directory. There is no time limit on
items in this caches. Also SC checks the cache first rather than
existence of the art file, so if you delete the cover file (e.g.
cover.jpg) and rescan - the art will still appear on WebUI. Cover file
which have a later time should replace existing art.

When WebUI displays art - it is requested from SC and then the browser
will store it in its cache. Similarly the controller has its one
cache.

If you have already viewed art for an album and so SC will have cached
"no cover" and then you add cover art and then browse to Music folder -
you need to do the following

1. On browser - clear the cache (i.e. on Firefox use shift+control+del)
. Reloading a page is not enough.
2. The controller needs to be turned off and on again - this clears the
controller's cache.
3. If it is an album which had no cover and you have just added art -
you should restart SC as there are some other filename caching in SC.
4. Delete the Artwork directory and so all cached artwork. If you
delete Artwork you should also do 1 & 2 again to make sure all caches
are cleared at the same time. Artwork directory deletion can be done
when SC is running but it will cause delays on all subsequent artwork
until cache is replenished but it is usually quicker than a rescan.
5. If all the above fail - wipe and rescan.
