Yes, by default anything not directly supported by the hardware is
transcoded to FLAC.

dBpoweramp will do this itself, but for EAC I think you have to use a

SC will let you play anything over stream.mp3, but it will be
transcoded to mp3. So you can play flacs, wavpack, or any other
supported format but the actual stream will still be mp3.
