OK, fanboys tips are good pieces of advice since they are justified. A fan that can argue has good reasons to be a fan, indeed...
Well, I received my SqueezeBox Classic last friday, and I immediately fell in love with it... Really a great piece of hardware. I am very rarely so enthusisatic about manufactured goods ! Really, conceivers did a great job ! I'm now dreaming of Transporter ! But this unit is far too expensive in France, compared to US price... Anyway, I think I will abandon WavPack since I'm not sure of what I'm hearing : lossy or lossless (understand : the SqueezeBox is connected to a small Kenwood system, my main system is waiting for a Yamaha DSP-Z7 HC amplifier, so I am not really able to be sure, since the hardware has not sufficient "acoustic resolution"). The WavPack file are though perfectly read, and gaplessly, that is great ! But I think too that WavPack is transcoded (to FLAC, probably) : I saw in "extra infos" something like "Wavpack bitrate 198 Kbps (transcoded 706 Kbps)" The latter bitrate makes me think about FLAC... So I think I will go on with FLAC. I read on wiki there is a way of letting EAC rip CD both in FLAC and something else, but I did not found the proper command line. Would someone be nice enough to let me know how to do this ? I tried to add another C:\Path\To\codec.exe (and parameters for this codec) in parameters field, but it doesn't work... Last question (not so sure ;-) !) : I tried to use VLC to access to SqueezeCenter, but it seems one can only hear MP3 music through the stream.mp3 URL. Is there a way to hear FLAC or OGG (or WavPack, only for personal knowledge and culture) music, or should I move to other tools like MPD ? Best regards from a very satisfied and definitely happy customer !
